These touches include the customizable backgrounds, keyboard noises (yes, you can make each keystroke sound like a droplet of water), and ultra-soothing background music (I almost fell asleep while writing this – and I think that’s a good thing). OmmWriter even takes pains to block other Growl notifications, as well as the Menu Bar, so that you end up totally immersed in your writing. To say too much about OmmWriter could actually be taken as an insult, as I get the impression that the developers took pride in making a program that stays totally out of your way, but for a select number of little touches. However, instead of just constructing a virtual writing room, OmmWriter aims to create a writing atmosphere, complete with ambient sounds, simple backdrops, and a minimal UI. OmmWriter reminds me a lot of WriteRoom: it’s a full-screen writing application with basic text file support (though you can export in RTF). It’s very easy to get lost in thought while using OmmWriter Dana, and I suppose that’s Mission Accomplished as far as this free Mac app is concerned.
